Just a bit about the herbal medicine maker . . .

I am Marielle, and I have been making herbal products for as long as I can remember. As a child, I’d gather plants from my backyard to make magic potions. Then throughout my teen and college years, I experimented with herbal tea blends and tinctures, always feeling the pull towards connecting with the plants and seeking their wisdom to help guide healing. Working with the natural world in this way has always felt organic and right in my body.

When I was pregnant with my first child, I realized how deeply I wanted to raise my children with access to this knowledge of the plants and their healing capacities, much in the same way my ancestors did. For this purpose, I attended Berkeley Herbal Center’s Herbalist Certification program in 2016.

Inspired by the plants and my growing family, I opened The Well Cafe in Oakland in 2017, a cafe and community space featuring a menu specializing in herbal medicinal food and drink, offering classes, and herbal products.

Since selling The Well (which later closed in 2022), my family and I have now rooted in West Marin/Coast Miwok land and are stewarding land with a vision to include a sanctuary herbal medicine garden. With this, I have also returned to creating products. It is truly an act of love, a way to honor our local plant allies, and make this medicine accessible.

I am launching first a seasonal herbal box which combines recipes I’ve been using for years, along with new ones. Each box comes with 5-7 handcrafted, organic, local and/or sustainably harvested herbal products along with educational information about the plants. Over time, the hope is to grow all of the herbs for these products in our home garden farm, and to invite YOU to come be a part of it.

THANK YOU for visiting and for supporting local herbalism.
